Let’s Talk! With The Emergence Of Shaku-Shaku Tempo, Can Pon-Pon Beat Survive In 2018?

One thing worth appreciated about Nigerian music industry is the intense competition, only artistes with so much versatility have been able to survive it over the years.

Music lovers in Nigeria are “prostitutes”. Any new tune or sound, they don’t waste time to switch. Reasons artistes with a unique style of music delivery like Mr Eazi, Ycee, Lil Kesh, CDQ, Kiss Daniel and others rose to fame real quick.

Going back to the early moments of 2017, Pon Pon beat seems to be a new sound that caught the attention of Nigerians and artistes like Davido, Runtown and others were quick to jump on it to become hitmakers of the year. And of course, Davido stuck to it like super glue and made most out of it.

Late 2017, the Shaku-Shaku tempo started evolving with songs like “Shepeteri” by Slimcase, “My Body” by Zlatan featuring Olamide, “Lalakukulala” by Oladips featuring Reminisce and others popularizing it.

Fortunately, the first major hit of 2018 is Olamide‘s latest release “Science Student“, fully packaged with Shaku-Shaku tempo. On the street, everybody is now dancing like “Agama Lizard”.

With Reminisce‘s new release “Problem” also making waves, it seems the Shaku-Shaku tempo has now become a problem to the existence of “Pon Pon” sound. The problem becomes more obvious as the song “Ada” by DJ Ecool featuring Pon Pon master, Davido is not trending as expected.

Do You Think Shaku-Shaku tempo will outshine Pon-Pon beat in 2018?
