Two land grabbers who allegedly murdered a man in Ogun State have been arrested by the state police command.

Two land grabbers, popularly known as ‘Omo Onile’ (owners of the land), Sharafa Adeyemi and Sunday Jamiu, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing one Taofeek Bakare, on Baba Ode Liasu Road, Ilogbo, in the Sango Ota area of the state.

In a release signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were arrested at about 3am on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, after policemen from the Sango Area Command got a tip-off that land grabbers were about to launch another attack on Ilogbo village and its environs.

“The Area Commander, ACP Adegoke Fayode, led  his men to the place on the order of the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, and arrested Sharafa Adeyemi (43) and Sunday Jamiu (41).

Items recovered from them include one double-barrelled gun, one single-barrelled gun, 94 live cartridges, and charms.”

The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police had ordered the transfer of the case to the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, while a manhunt has been mounted for the alleged leader of the group, identified as Baale Sowole.
